Hope

About a week ago I read this Scripture in my daily reading plan Matthew 12: 21 “ And the fame of His name will birth hope among the people” TPT. This verse is part of a quotation taken from the book of Isaiah speaking about Jesus and His mission on earth. I have pondered on this verse especially because it speaks of how through the name of Jesus nations-multitudes will have hope and that God will call me and allow me to participate in bringing hope to many who have no hope and those who have lost hope.
I have found myself thinking about the life I live and the “ work” I do and the desire I have for many of the women and families I work with or serve to know of this hope that we have in Jesus because truly speaking He is the only hope that we have at the end of the day.
I have had the privilege of meeting a few new families in the last 5 months each with a story that breaks your heart and needs that can be overwhelming if you think you can meet those needs in your own will and power and that you have to meet those needs. I have spent time with women coming from Africa and the Middle East lately and my heart has been burdened because sitting down with them I hear stories of despair and hopelessness and when I think of it I realize that when I read the above verse from Matthew God in His grace and mercy was aligning my heart with His because people created in His image are walking and living with no hope.
“Hope is crucial for Christians because it provides the confident expectation of future good based on the promises of God, serving as an anchor for the soul during difficult times. It motivates action, gives strength to persevere through challenges, and is a source of spiritual transformation and renewal” AI Overview on Hope.
The Bible talks in Hebrews 6:19 “ We have this certain hope like a strong, unbreakable anchor holding our souls to God himself”
It is when we understand how strong, steadfast, unshakable and unbreakable this hope is that we can rise and help others enter into this place where we find rest for our souls.
I have a treasure-hope to give to the many women and children that I meet be it in my city or in the refugee camps because the hope I have in Jesus helps me understand that my life was created to have meaning and purpose and that this hope is grounded and firmly planted in God who never fails or changes.
I think I am also thinking of hope because we are drawing towards the end of the year and we get to celebrate with friends and loved ones during Christmas because our Saviour came and took away our despair and misery BUT it is not meant to end with us, it is meant to be shared with those who have not had an opportunity to hear or choose. With the hope we have we can look at any situation regardless of how it looks and know that God will come through and that when He comes through the answer or solution is the best because He gives what is good.
Hebrews 6:17-19 “Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of His purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, He confirmed it with an oath. God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have taken hold of the hope set before us may be greatly encouraged. We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure”
I may never be able to stand before thousands of hundreds of people, but each day that I am alive I want to instill hope in the hearts and minds of the many women I meet and work with. I pray that you will also choose to walk alongside someone who feels hopeless and carries the weight of despair. Maybe you have situations that look hopeless, my prayer is that you will know the One who is able to change the situation and fill it with hope and great expectation.
