The name Imbali comes from the Zulu language and means “a flower” and “to blossom.” It is a beautiful and common girls’ name, and it carries deep personal meaning for me.

My heart will never be the same after this visit. I believe God has made room in my heart to carry these children and to actively seek ways to improve their educational lives.

Remembering—and retelling—God’s faithfulness guards our hearts from forgetfulness. That is why I want to share these stories with you. Many of you have walked alongside me for years through prayer, encouragement, and financial support. My hope is that, as I write, you too will be inspired to remember God’s faithfulness in your own life and share it with those within your sphere of influence.

I have found myself thinking about the life I live and the “ work” I do and the desire I have for many of the women and families I work with or serve to know of this hope that we have in Jesus because truly speaking He is the only hope that we have at the end of the day.

Three months after opening Imbali’s doors, I look back on a journey of faith, creativity, and connection — and the many stories woven together in this space.
